Lei Haku Workshop with Kaleipuupuu

Date: Sunday, October 12, 2025
Time: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: Pōʻai by Pono Potions
1119 Smith St., Honolulu, HI 96817

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the traditional art of lei haku — a three-ply braided style of lei that incorporates a variety of plant materials. Guided by Kaleipuupuu, you’ll craft your own lei poʻo (head lei) using locally gathered foliage and flowers.

In this group experience, you will:

  • Immerse yourself in Hawaiian culture through lei making
  • Learn gathering and preparation techniques
  • Follow step-by-step instruction with personalized guidance
  • Create your own one-of-a-kind lei

No prior lei-making experience is required, though participants should be comfortable making a basic three-ply braid.

  • All materials are provided.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in.

Come ready to connect, learn, and celebrate the beauty and tradition of Hawaiian lei.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made at least 72 hours before the workshop will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours are non-refundable. If the workshop is canceled by the host, all participants will be fully refunded.

About the instructor:

Kahi is a local lei maker who grew up on the east side of Oʻahu in Kāneʻohe and Kailua. He founded Kaleipuupuu as a way to share his passion for lei and to help perpetuate an important aspect of Hawaiian culture through educational lei experiences. Through this work, Kahi hopes to inspire others to begin their own lei journey.
